Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) OTT Release on Amazon Prime

The epic historical action-drama film by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan has been released on Amazon Prime, available on Rent at from November 4 onwards on Prime Video. So in November there is going to be OTT face-off, with two box-office hits of 2022 — Mani Ratnam’s period drama and Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy adventure Brahmastra. While Mani Ratnam’s period drama Ponniyin Selvan: I will load on Amazon Prime Video, Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy adventure Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva will stream on Disney+ Hotstar. Both films drop on November 4.

PS-I got released in theatres around the globe on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. So after its Box Office success on Big screens, its not slated to be released and create ripples on OTT. Already PS-1 is heading towards the milestone of Rs 500 crore collection globally.

The film is based on the Chola Empire. It is set in 969 AD and shows Pandiyas swearing to make the royals bleed and chieftains of the Chola Empire planning a mutiny. The movie has lots of action and its plot revolves around war, political unrest, and riddles. Will the wild prince Aditya Karikalan or rebel Pandiya Amarabujanga succeed Arunmozhi Varman and become the new king? B. Jeyamohan, Elango Kumaravel, and Mani Ratnam co-wrote the movie, and it is the first part of the two-part novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Subaskaran Allirajah and Mani Ratnam made the film under Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies banners.

The ensemble cast includes Lal, R. Parthiban, Rahman, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaram, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Vikram. Ravi Varman is the movie’s cinematographer, and AR Rahman composed its soundtrack. Thota Tharani has done the production design, and A. Sreekar Prasad has done the editing.

The Film is already the most promising release of 2022 on Big Screens and is expected to touch 500 Cr. Mark before being available on OTT.
